Broken Bones to Mend Broken Hearts
Why is it that when there is tragedy that people suddenly seem to come together? It doesn't even have to be a tragedy of immense proportions such as a death or illness in the family - from feuding family members to friends that turn into more people come together. This past week I was involved in a minor car accident where the end result was my car's rear end being smashed in and my neck getting whiplash. As a police officer asked if there was someone they could contact for me so many faces raced through my mind from my mother to my friend and finally on that of Mr. Playful! That was a shock to me because the last correspondence we had was very brief and I was now in the beginning stages of a relationship with Mr. New Year's Eve!
My hand trembled as I dialed his number and after what seemed like an eternity I hear his voice, which seemed a lifetime away. I couldn't say anything it was just him saying, 'Hello? Rosie is that you?' Once I took a breath and said I need help and didn't know whom else to call. Mr. Playful arrived at the hospital just as I did and when he looked at me it was as though he made it all go away. He sat with me for hours while the hospital did their usual dance of checking on me, then disappearing, checking on me, then disappearing until the doctor finally returned telling me I have whiplash and to go home. After Mr. Playful brought me home and made sure I had everything I needed he knelt down and gave me the softest kiss on my cheek and whispered that he still loved me.
What was that? Why would he do that? Now? It certainly helped take my mind of my pain, as now I have to think through this wave of emotions that has come over me.
