Networking Into a Date |
| Networking is not just something you do to get a new job or deal on that new car! Everything in life is about networking – it really is all about who you know. Dating is no different! You'll be surprised at who you can meet by asking your existing group of family, friends and colleagues for introductions to new people. Tips for Dating Networking Keep your expectations realistic -Don't expect that every person you're introduced to is going to be Mr. or Ms. Right. The first step is to approach dating with the intention of expanding your group of friends. Once you have that done then making a special relationship with one of those new friends. Make it known that you're looking for dates - Your friends, family, and colleagues can't help you until you tell them you want their help - so make sure they're aware that you're interested in broadening your social circle and open to their suggestions. Try not to sound desperate; just mention casually that you'd love to meet people they think you'd enjoy, either as just friends or perhaps, later, as something more. Don't ask people to set you up on a blind date - Instead, ask to take your friend and their friend/suggested date out for coffee or lunch. It will be more relaxed for everyone and a lot more fun. Use your community - People you know from church or community organizations, volunteer organizations, classes or hobby groups are a great resource for dating networking. They may know other people who are interested in the same activities as you, or who have a similar spiritual outlook. Make it a group activity - Get together a group of 5-7 people (with a balance of the sexes, of course) who are friends and friends of friends, and do something that's interactive and fun. Bowling, picnics, pickup softball or Frisbee games, and board/card game nights are all activities that make for great conversation, laughter, and possibly some sparks. Even if you don't get a great date you'll have had a great time. Rosie, The Love Vixen |
