| Date Essentials When you're going out on a date, whether it's a casual event or a five-star evening, men and women should have these essential items in order to make the date as fun and enjoyable as possible. Ladies When packing your bag for a date, don't throw in unnecessary items so you don't look like you're carrying a duffel bag. A cute clutch or small purse will do just fine. We're Chatterboxes - You never have to worry about a lull in the conversation online because this is our time to shine! There is so much that we want to say to you in person that somehow doesn't process correctly when coming out of our mouths. When we have the opportunity to write out our thoughts you will be amazed at how long we can go on for... Lip Gloss & Chapstick - You should always have lip gloss with a tint to keep yourself looking pretty, but you also want chapstick for the end of the evening...most guys do not want to be wearing your flavored colored gloss... so apply regular chapstick towards the end of the date and be ready for the good night kiss. Cash - Having cash on you is critical; you should assume that the first date is "Dutch" (and be pleasantly surprised and grateful if he picks up the tab). Have enough additional cash for your cab ride home. Cab Number - Program the number for a cab company in your phone or write on a post-it and stick it in your bag...just in case. Hair Elastic - especially in the summer time when outside dates are more likely, always keep a hair elastic, in case it's windy or humid. Listerine Strips or Liquid Ice - A breath refresher that dissolves quickly and is strong enough to last for a while is best. Sugary mints leave an aftertaste, and you don't want to chew gum throughout your date - how rude! (this goes for guys as well) Your Business Card - You never know whom you'll be introduced to or meet when you're out. Networking is so important for your career and for your social life. Gentlemen Guys usually do not have tons of room for things the way women do, most of the time guys are working with a wallet and maybe a pocket or two. Some essentials to consider: Cash and Credit Card - Always have cash on you, some places may not take plastic - and stopping at the ATM while you're on a date looks tacky and unprepared. Always bring a credit card too; dinner may be more than you anticipate. A Picture - Whether it is of your little cousin, niece or brother, girls always like to see pictures in guys' wallets. It's a great conversation starter and it will give you that "nice guy" label. Three Questions - Have three questions in mind when you go on a date. Don't write them down (you don't want to pull out a list in the middle of the date); just make it a point to ask her at least three questions. Women tend to be the conversation starters, so beat her to it and impress her. Skip the Flowers - Instead of the usual rose or bouquet, buy her a DVD... maybe one of your favorites or one you want to watch. This is a great way to break the ice. It's also a great setup for the second date - you already know one thing you can do together! Rosie, The Love Vixen |
